Welcome Music Concert: Gondang Batak Germany

Vierhändiges Klavierspiel kennen wir. Aber vierhändiges Trommeln? Auf Sumatra, einer Insel im Westen Indonesiens ist das üblich. Dort wird die Gondang Trommel in einem Set aus sechs Trommeln von zwei Menschen mit jeweils zwei Sticks gespielt. Dadurch entstehen ganz charakteristische Rhythmen, die oft zu Hochzeiten, Beerdigungen oder anderen wichtigen Ereignissen gespielt werden.

Die Welcome Music Concerts sind vielleicht nicht ganz so wichtig wie eine Hochzeit, aber Gondang Batak Germany werden uns trotzdem am 8. Juli genau diese traditionellen Rhythmen und Melodien präsentieren – ganz wunderbar passend zu unserem Motto „Harmonies & Peace“, denn die Gondang Trommeln sind ein Symbol für Gemeinschaft und Einheit.

Die Gondang sind außerdem ein Symbol für die Kreativität des Batak Volks, das vor allem im Norden von Sumatra angesiedelt ist und das wir, stellvertretend durch Gondang Batak Germany, bei uns in der Zinnschmelze herzlich begrüßen.

Welcome music, welcome Gondang Batak Germany!

We know four-handed piano – But four-handed drums? On Sumatra, an island in the Western part of Indonesia this is a very common instrument. The Gondang drum is played in a set of six drums by two people holding two sticks. That creates distinctive rhythms which are played often at weddings, funerals or other important events.

The Welcome Music Concerts may not be as important as a wedding, but Gondang Batak Germany will play those melodies and rhythms anyways at the 8th of July for us. Very fitting to our motto „harmonies & peace“ as the Gondang drums are a symbol for community and unity.

The Gondang drum is also a symbol for the creativity of the Batak people who inhabit mainly the North Sumatra province of Indonesia.
